JFP-Training Studio Knee to elbows on bosu ball or you can say ( mountain climber with bosu ball) - create more shoulder stability n core involvement .. One of the best way to contract core to improve stability n core strength.. Must try this exercise - you can do anywhere if you don't have bosu ball you can do on the basketball ball also but you have to more careful on that bec it's very difficult to manage body on basketball ball bec there don't have balance stability to control your body.. Otherwise you can do on the floor. But on floor you have to bring you knee slow close to elbows n again same way go back.. 🤕 Muscles are on the lower end of the body's food chain. Or at least on the hierarchy of importance when talking about movement! The muscles only do what the nerves tell them to! The nerves only do what the brain tells them to! Fast forward to this example! KISS (keep it simple stupendous)😄 Patient comes in complaining of a tight neck, and presents with a head tilt Are they overusing their SCMs/ Scalenes? Maybe??? Check the rest of the body for: 1️⃣ flexor dominant posture 2️⃣ anterior rolled shoulders 3️⃣ thumbs pointing inward to lateral side of body 4️⃣weak multifidi, spinal extensors 5️⃣ anterior pelvic tilt 6️⃣ weight shift anterior with respect to feet/ hips anterior to ankles Do you find these with that head tilt/ tight neck? You may just be dealing with a vestibular dysfunction!! Not the kind that causes vertigo.. Just enough dysfunction to screw you up in other ways. ✅Note the head tilt is usually towards the side of otoliths Dysfunction. Credit to API for this post😄 👊Brains Rule! Maintain balance through firm grounding in your feet and hand, and by reaching through your upper shoulder blade tip, arm bone, and finger tips. Leg swings are an integral part of our warm up here at the gym. It amazes me how many people/athletes cannot do such a simple task! ———————— They are very important for Central Nervous System (CNS) Activation or in layman’s terms, warming up your muscles. Leg swings improve hip MOBILITY as well as hip flexor, hamstring and adductor FLEXIBILITY. We typically do 1 set of 10 per leg, per way. Patient was having pain in her knee, her lower back, her left trapezius, and her left wrist. When I typically see a patient with this presentation where everything is bothered from head to toe, it's time to go back to the foundation-- the feet. . After looking at her cervical spine, ileocecal valve functioning, and pulse point analysis (via Applied Kinesiology protocol), we looked at each foot by "challenging" different muscles that correlate to the feet. Upon adjusting the feet from what we found, we then taped the feet to stabilize the joints of the foot for proper gait functioning. . She felt great and was a sport to let me take this photo. Stability is king. Although we wanted a fully flexed hip and a straighter arm at the end of the vertical press, we still got really good stability through the shoulder during the press, and throughout the core and the posterior chain (glutes were firing).. . . Sometimes you have to get a bit creative with what the gyms have to offer!! . . Super proud of my client we have been at it for about a month and we have really made some great progress. . . Consistency is key and enjoying the process along the way. We are turning unilateral work into easy work!!! . . KNEE PREHAB/REHAB 🤾🏽‍♀️ . In my previous post I mentioned proprioception at the knee joint. What is proprioception? 🧐 It is basically awareness of body position in space. Proprioception is very important when it comes to stability. The ACL (and PCL) have mechanoreceptors which play an important role in sending the body information 🧠 regarding changes in tension, speed, acceleration, direction, and position . The idea of the above ⬆️ exercises is to work on proprioception and therefore stability 🏗at the knee joint. These exercises can be used for both prehab and rehab purposes. Each movement should focus on control, rather than speed and power (this will be in my next post). The addition of the airex (or an unstable surface) basically challenges your ability to stabilize the knee joint. Try to keep proper alignment from the hip ➡️ knee ➡️ ankle joint. . Quick summary of exercises 1️⃣ Focus is on movement in the sagittal plane 2️⃣ Focus is on movement in the frontal plane .
