I have had A LOT of people ask me recently what kind of exercise I’m doing and what I’m eating, etc. I get it, I’ve made HUGE changes in the past 2 years, heck even the past few months. Let me clear the air a little here... This was a total paradigm shift for me. I had to change my way of thinking about goals and what I want out of life. Don’t get me wrong, it started with wanting to look a certain way, but it soon became about how far I could go, and I’m still exploring that. At first it was running a mile without stopping, 10 push-ups in a row and A PULL UP! Once those became easy I set new goals. Now I’m planning for an endurance trifecta including running over 30+ mountainous miles over a 24 hr period, I’m hitting back to back metabolic and CrossFit style classes AND I can climb a rope all day! I’m constantly resetting with myself and checking in. The key for me has been consistency and having fun, because if I didn’t like what I was doing, why would I continue to do it? If you are interested in changing up your lifestyle and really WANT to succeed I have a few tidbits of advice when it comes to health and fitness: 1. Find an activity you LOVE doing (no one I know has woken up excited that it’s treadmill day, but you better believe I get excited for Thursday’s because that means Spartan workouts!) 2. Find a group of people who love doing it with you - this really helps in the early days with accountability 3. Don’t worry about which “diet” fad is newest, find an eating plan that is right for you. Potato diet up your alley? Go for it. The main goal is to be aware of the fuel you are putting in your tank so you have the energy for that activity you love doing (thanks @lyns778 for the analogy) 4. Just keep moving! Remember, consistency is key. We crawl before walking, walk before running... give yourself time to get there. 5. Tomorrow is always a new day. It took me a few years of rollercoaster weight losses and gains to gather the motivation, courage and drive to find consistency and forever change. Don’t beat yourself up too much. Every day is a new chance. Ok, this was a long one, hopefully it was helpful in some small way. #transformationtuesday

I was looking through my gym's workout tracker and I'm still shocked and proud of last week's benchmark testing. I cut 1 min and 25 secs off of my mile time since I joined @mrocarmy! I also found out that my max back squat is 155 lbs and max deadlift is 175 lbs which is way more than I thought. It's easy to get caught up in my day to day performance that I forget about how far I've come. You get what you put in when you show up, work hard, and trust the process. ❓What the heck is turmeric❓ I have never heard of turmeric before living in San Francisco, maybe people just started using it recently. In India, turmeric has been a staple spice and herb for thousands of years. Science is now proving that turmeric does contain compounds with medicinal properties. The most important one is curcumin. Here is some information from healthline.com 🔷Curcumin is a natural anti-inflammatory compound 🔹 “chronic, low-level inflammation plays a major role in almost every chronic, Western disease.” Curcumin in turmeric is helpful in preventing these diseases from coming. 🔷Curcumin helps the brain function 🔹 there is something called “Brain-derived neutrophic factor” or BDNF, which is a growth hormone that functions in the brain. Some brain disorders, like depression and Alzheimer’s disease, are linked to decreased levels of BDNF. Turmeric essentially helps fight these brain disorders and can sometimes even reverse them. 🔷Increases Antioxidant Capacity 🔹 “curcumin also boosts the activity of the body’s own antioxidant enzymes.” This is huge for fighting oxidative damage, which leads to aging and many other diseases. #o2bodyfit #breathestrong #dalycity #sanfrancisco

#NeverGiveup • 💯Well today wasn’t the best “fitness” day I’d say.. post work, rock climbing was feeling good then suddenly felt like shit.. low energy, no motivation no anything .. then decided to head upstairs for some work out before wrecking myself. Did a few lifting and tried to dust off some old moves. I can say the clean and press with 115# was the only positive thing of today, the form seems to be getting better. Muscle up on the other hand is awful.. need to get more repetition and better form of It again. Finished up with 20mins on the stair master hitting 100floors and 25 minutes on the bike hitting 6miles to take it as a little switch off from today’s run. I’m grateful for some friends reaching out and sending positive vibes.
