Our welcoming environment supports staff committed to #PrincetonU's mission. Read Heather's story ⬇️ . #Repost @wilson_school . “Growing up in a small town, where everyone is family, I have had the same group of close friends for decades. Walking into the Woo, I was scooped up into this family setting. New to the Woodrow Wilson School but not the University, I was warmly embraced by all. That familiar sense of family and home is extended beyond my office. My role as the special assistant to the dean involves me working closely with the Office of Development on stewardship. I have the privilege of sitting in on meetings and speaking with donors to the Wilson School. It is heartwarming to see alums who have such a deep love of Princeton and the Woodrow Wilson School that they want to give back so current students can have an even better experience. Woodrow Wilson School students enroll here because they want to make the world a better place. Their excitement and passion encourages me to do the same. An all-season athlete in high school and field hockey player in college, I took up running to stay in shape after graduating. While it was always a great workout, I didn’t truly love it until about five years ago when I decided to train for my first half marathon. It is true what they say about the runners high! Now, I find joy in running and a way to give back. I try to take part in two to four distance races a year and use these opportunities to raise money for charities that are important to me. Previously, my running supported the @pkdfoundation, an organization dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for polycystic kidney disease, a genetic disease that runs in my husband’s family. Recently, my races have been helping raise money for one of my childhood friends who is battling cancer. After beating cancer in high school, her breast cancer returned a few years ago. Her insurance wouldn’t cover all of her expenses so my friends and I started a fund to raise the money. Unfortunately, the cancer spread as a secondary cancer to her skin. We hope our fundraising can help to alleviate some of the financial burden. ... [continues in comments ⬇️]
