Drawing bones is not my forte, but the boys didn’t seem to mind. Between these pictures on our chalkboard and some X-rays I printed out and put on a clipboard, Henry was playing radiologist all morning! 👨⚕️ ________________________ #humanbody #preschoolathome #unitstudy #prek #dramaticplay #imaginativeplay #prekscience #preschoolscience #playingdoctor #homeschoolingmama #homeschoolinglife #cultivatecuriosity #invitationtoplay #antrimhomeschool2018
We have slowly started doing themed units again. We took a bit of a break as we started the new year and celebrated Henry’s birthday. At Henry’s request, we set up our first unit for 2018 - The Human Body 🧠👃👄👂👀✋ ________________________ #humanbody #preschoolathome #unitstudy #prek #dramaticplay #imaginativeplay #prekscience #preschoolscience #playingdoctor #kidsbooks #homeschoolingmama #homeschoolinglife #cultivatecuriosity #invitationtoplay #antrimhomeschool2018
❄️DIY SNOW ❄️ The girls (and me!!) love a good baking soda + vinegar experiment, so we had to do a little bubble up science! We mixed shaving cream, baking soda, corn starch, and later added a little flour to make it stick together a little better! After the girls had built some snow men ⛄️⛄️ and played for a while, we broke out the vinegar! They would do this for hours! Swipe through to see all the pictures and videos!
❄️INSTA SNOW❄️ part 2! We put our Insta Snow in the freezer for a couple of hours and it really felt like real snow! I went outside and scraped up a little snow and ice so we could compare the real snow to the Insta Snow! (How cool that we actually had snow outside!!!) Ella enjoyed checking out snowflakes and ice with her magnifying glass! And now we need a microscope!!
❄️INSTA SNOW❄️ We had two snow days in a row and we had “SNOW MUCH FUN!” We used Insta Snow to make “snow” inside and it was too cool! It’s made of super absorbent polymers (almost the same as the inside of a diaper!) so when you add water it expands and it’s time to play! The girls really loved playing in it and adding more water with their droppers to make different consistencies! Swipe through the pictures & videos to see it all! ❄️ Link in profile for Insta Snow!
❄️DIAPER SNOW❄️ We wanted to see the difference in the Insta Snow polymers and the polymers inside a diaper! The girls thought this was pretty cool! The diaper went from a flat cotton pad to a sloppy mess! The only differences we could tell in the two polymers is that the inside of a diaper was much more mushy! The Insta Snow polymers seemed to stay a little more separate! Super neat! ❄️
⛄️💥⛄️ It took a few tries to get the ratios just right for the bag to actually come open instead of just swell. P suggested increasing the amount on vinegar and lowering the amount of baking soda and he was THRILLED when it finally exploded! "Let's roll the dice! It's working! Yes! Told you that was right..." 😂 We did it at least have a dozen times. 😄#walkerpreschool #snowweek #preschool #homeschoolpreschool #homeschool #homeschooling #preschoolscience #science #handsonlearning #scienceexperiment
LETTER 🐧 P ❄️SENSORY PLAY. . . MissC explored Penguin life in our #sensoryplay today! I froze some “icebergs” and filled the tub with blue colored water. We read a little out of a #nonfictionbook about penguins and how they love to slide on the ice and swim in the water but can not fly. There were a few polar bears playing too! . . #preschoolscience #totschool #totschooling #learningthroughplay #letterrecognition #lettersounds #themebasedlearning #teachmom #homeschool #preschool #3yearsold #penguintheme #sensorybin #sensorytub #earlylearning #preschooljournal
If you've never done an exploding snowman, I highly recommend it! 😉Draw a snowman face on a zipper bag, add some vinegar, twist the middle of the bag, add a couple spoons of baking soda, zip, untwist, and get ready for an explosion of giggles! ⛄️💥⛄️#walkerpreschool #snowweek #preschool #homeschoolpreschool #homeschool #homeschooling #preschoolathome #preschoolscience #handsonlearning #science #scienceexperiment
You may have seen on my stories that yesterday we got our one good snow day per year. My husband took the day off and we had a family day throwing snowballs, sledding, and making tracks with our boots and a stick like Peter from The Snowy Day. 😆♥️ The snow is still covering everything like a blanket this morning and we're enjoying it from the window until it warms up a little bit. I scooped up some fresh snow from the back porch and gave it to the kids with medicine droppers and colored water. They're exercising their finger muscles by squeezing and making beautiful snow art to get their fix until I'm ready to bundle everyone and head out. 👍❄️🎨 #finemotorskills #preschoolscience #preschoolart #snowday
We got the tiniest dusting of snow yesterday and God just delivered the absolute best snowflakes for us to observe! We've talked about and read about snowflakes being unique but I'd never seen true snowflakes like this. I was thrilled for P to see them and he thought they were amazing, too. This picture was taken straight from my iPhone and showcases just how absolutely amazing and detailed creation truly is. ❄️❤❄️ #walkerpreschool #snowweek #preschool #homeschoolpreschool #homeschool #preschoolathome #homeschooling #snow #snowflakes #preschoolscience #godisawesome
We finally embraced the craze sweeping the nation: making slime! I chose a simple recipe found on Pinterest that only called for glue, shaving cream, contact solution, and a bit of baking soda. You can also add food coloring but we decided to leave ours white like snow to reflect our current theme. P willingly helped pour and stir the ingredients. We didn't measure anything, just played around until we got a good consistency going. Once I got everything incorporated the slime was oozy and stretchy but didn't leave a residue on your hands so he was totally into it! We actually made it and played with it yesterday but put it in a sealed bag overnight and today it has a completely different but equally fun texture! #walkerpreschool #snowweek #preschool #homeschoolpreschool #homeschool #homeschooling #preschoolathome #preschoolscience #science #sciencexperiment #makingslime #slime #homemadeslime
