A D A P T ~ My planned run through Malabar Headland National Park this morning was interrupted by the rifle range being open 🙄 so after a moment of disappointment & considering rock-hoping my way in.... rather than getting shot I thought I’d take my chances of getting hit on the head and run through the golf course to Little Bay instead 🤪 . . I can’t really complain given the absolutely stunning coastline to take in that I don’t as often run by.... . . Like anything in life, sometimes we are knocked off course and are initially disappointed or frustrated BUT if we stop, reevaluate and allow ourselves to adapt & move in a different direction there is always beauty and wonder ahead that we otherwise may never have stumbled upon💫😍🤩 . . #sydney #stunningsydney #littlebay #easternsuburbs #easternsuburbssydney #beach #ilovesydney @sydney

Getting cardio in has definitely been a challenge during this postnatal recovery. Are you with me? I’m not a runner and getting to the gym has been less frequent due to juggling all the kids’ schedules. Tabata drills using the Tabata Pro app have given me the most success with getting it in at home while still entertaining Kiera. You work for 20 seconds followed by 10 seconds of recovery. Repeat 8 times through. Wow! When I took this photo I was more relaxed than I have been months! I spent this afternoon at The Space Retreat and it was everything I had hoped for and more. I took my 19 month-old and left her with the lovely women in the crèche provided and then had three amazing hours of doing whatever I wanted. No chores, no washing, no internet banking (although I could have, if I wanted!) Just me time and a fabulous manicure included. If you're a mum and you need a bit of guilt-free down time I cannot recommend it highly enough! Check it out at @spaceretreat Also it was lovely to meet @monkeyandmushu and @mariamakeupartist . . Between postpartum wrist issues, a locked up upper back, and a healing SI joint, I made a comment to Chris the other day that I felt like I was falling apart. He responded, ever so wisely, “No, you’re coming back together.” — These have been my at-home “coming back together” tools the past few weeks: — Abdominal and Pelvic Floor Exercises: Om Birth’s recent Ab Rehab Workshop gave me a toolbox of very subtle, mindful, and challenging techniques to stabilize and engage the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor. I have noticed a difference already with just ten minutes a day. — Yoga Tune Up Balls: I try as often as I can to wind down my day by rolling out my forearms and upper back, which feel tight and stiff from round the clock breastfeeding and holding tension from this winter’s bitter cold. It hurts so good, and I feel so much more open and softened after. — Yoga Block: I hold a yoga block tight between my knees during pelvic floor and abdominal exercises and also use it to open up the front body before I roll out my upper back. My favorite position is placing the block between my shoulder blades like a book, which allows me to open up the chest area much more than a bolster. — Pilates Magic Circle: To help stabilize my SI Joints, I use the Magic Circle in two ways - between the thighs while squeezing in, and around the thighs while pressing out. After my immobilized last few weeks of pregnancy, SI joint care is a critical part of my recovery. — Meditation Beads: A gift from my teacher, Jacqui Bonwell, at the end of this year’s 300YTT, this mala made from Job’s Tears has kept me company during quiet sitting, even if for a brief few minutes. Part 2 Sofa Workout plus a cushion . . Please avoid Exercise 4 if you are less than 5 months #postpartum or have only just started core training - as it is way to much pressure on the tummy- ✨ if your tummy pushes out into a point during any core work STOP 🛑 .. you are not ready YET..🎀However you can make exercise 4- ‘ passing the cushion’- a smaller movement, so just be mindful and listen to your body.. if you just allow your tummy muscles to just hang or point/push out during ANY exercise this will cause more damage than good! #mummytummy . Once you are postpartum you are always postpartum this actually means you can be strong than before and more in tune with your body- you just have to #postnatalexercise especially within that first year! . 12 Reps - 2-3 sets 🎀💪🏽 #mymummyfitness #homeworkout
