Said goodbye to Butte today. We're flying out of Bozeman in the morning. It's been a great trip and I can't wait to come back! I'll miss these mountains and that fresh Montana air #butte #montana #rockymountains
Tour of the SIFT Farm (small-scale intensive farm training) at the NCAT headquarters in Butte. They are doing great work here! Amazing that they are able to grow anything with a frost-free season around 75 days! They are still waiting for their broccoli and cabbage to be ready for harvest 😳. Montana is a great place to visit, but I could never live here. I need more than three months of gardening in a year! #ncat #butte #montana #gardeninginmontana
I'm in awe of this place. A coworker treated us out-of-towners to an amazing home-cooked lamb dinner followed by rhubarb pie and a tour of his gorgeous farm. If you're ever in Butte or Bozeman, look for Montana Highland Lamb. Best rack of lamb I've ever had! And the Scott family is the best! πŸ€— #highlandlamb #montanagrown
Landed in Bozeman and drove to Butte this evening. The air is cool and refreshing. The Rockies are glorious. It's beautiful out here. #bigskycountry #montana
Leaving the farm for a work tip to Montana. Will miss our little patch of paradise, but I'm looking forward to some time in big sky country with real mountains! πŸ”πŸŒž
Watermelon snack time! πŸ‰πŸ“ #happyhens #freckledhenfarm #everybodyloveswatermelon
We've got okra! Always a fool-proof crop here in Arkansas, no matter how hot it gets. I've come to like eating the small tender pods raw, straight off the plant when I harvest. Anyone else do that?! You just gotta embrace the slime 😜 #okra #freckledhenfarm #summerproduce
What the garden harvest is looking like these days 😍 It's been hard to keep up with all the cucumbers and greens beans coming out of the garden. But we've starting making quick pickles to take care of the surplus. That should do it! πŸ˜‹ #justpickleit #gardenbasket #freckledhenfarm
Celebrating 8 years of love and adventure with the love of my life @nataliecreates! And to think that we have only just begun - I can't wait for all that's in store! I love you Natalie! Happy anniversary 😘🍾πŸ₯‚
Look what I found! πŸ€— A little tasty bites! But seriously, the name of this melon is tasty bites πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚β˜ΊοΈ #freckledhenfarm
I mean, who doesn't love zinnias?! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ #fridayflowers #freckledhenblooms #freckledhenfarm
Green bean harvest has begun! #provider #bushbeans #freckledhenfarm
Morning vibes in the garden 😌 Excited about this new bed of zinnias and sunflowers coming on. #cantwait #freckledhenblooms #freckledhenfarm
We've got heirloom squash and tomatoes at @thefreckledhenfarmhouse this week! Drop by Wed-Sun to get your hands on some of this! #summersquash #heirloomtomatoes #freckledhenfarm
So happy she's home! 😊❀️🏑
Cukes starting to climb! We usually use chicken wire or cattle pannel for our cucumber trellis, but we decided to go with twine this year. We'll see how it goes... Might need to come back with a few more stands for extra support. We like how it looks though 😏 #climbingcukes #freckledhenfarm
Watermelon vines starting to take over the corn 😬 Maybe should have planted these a little farther apart! Oh well... I'd rather have watermelon anyway πŸ˜œπŸ‰ #watermelonwins #freckledhenfarm
Natalie is gone to Atlanta, but at least I've got this girl keeping me company while I work in the garden. #farmcat #freckledhenfarm
Our first summer squash of the season! Zephyr and Flaminio are the two varieties we planted this year and I am loving them already! Most of our neighbors are already knee deep in squash, but we got ours in a little late this year. One benefit of the late planting: we haven't found any squash bugs yet. Doesn't mean we're in the clear, but late planting is a strategy to reduce squash bug pressure by not having a host crop available when they come out in the spring. #gardentricks #summersquash #freckledhenfarm
These Purple Bumblebee cherry tomatoes are so good! The nursery that we buy plants from just happened to have this heirloom variety so I though I'd give them a try. Definitely a grow again tomato! #purplebumblebee #heirloomtomatoes #freckledhenfarm
A Sunday morning walk through the garden with Natalie taking notes for next year. This earl grey larkspur is definitely on the "plant again" list! #alwaysimproving #freckledhenfarm
