Say hayyyy to our mentor Nyla! 🙋🏻 She is a sophomore double major in Forensic Science and Biology. On campus she is involved in Alpha Phi Omega, Student Activities Board and Forensic Science Organization and is a First Year Experience mentor 🌠 She is very passionate about ultimately making a difference in my world and helping people in some way🌍. There are still so many things to be discovered or to be made and everyone should have an equal opportunity to discover those mysteries. “It is important for women to pursue STEM in higher education because they are so many pathways and interesting fields emerging everyday that there is no way not to find something of interest.”👩🏽‍🔬#mentormonday #Holascience #cedarcrestcollege #womeninscience #mondaymotivation
Meet our scary awesome mentor Rachel👻! She is a junior, dual major in Forensic Science and Chemistry and minoring in Biology. As a forensic science student, she belongs to the Forensic Science Student Organization (FSSO) club & Vice President of the class of 2019📚. She is super passionate about teaching, equality, and happiness. “It is important for women to pursue STEM and high education because women are here to make a difference in this world. Anything that men give women, women make better, so give us the opportunity, and we can change the world🌏”
Building spaghetti towers with the HOLA! Mentors at training! Even though there was no highest standing tower (because of the marshmellows) we all get candy in the end. We can’t wait to meet the students! 🍝🏙 #HolaScience #mentortraining #marshmellowchallenge
Happy Monday! Meet Hola! Science mentor Leslie Cano. She is currently double majoring in Environmental Conservation B.A. and Global Studies. & very proud to be apart of the class of 2019! On campus she is involved in Alpha Phi Omega, the national community service fraternity. She loves to dance and is very passionate about the environment and sustainable living! “I think it is highly important for women to pursue STEM and higher education because everyone deserves the equal right to have an education and be able to choose whichever career they would like.” #HolaScience #STEM #womeninscience #mentormonday #cedarcrestcollege
Meet our mentor, Kathleen aka Kat! She is a Sophomore student here at Cedar Crest College majoring in Global Studies with a dual concentration in Religion, Culture, Society and Economics and International Business! She is also double minoring in Religious Studies and Biology. With plans on getting into the Foreign Service as a Cultural Affairs officer. Here on campus she works as an Admissions Ambassador, an active member of Student Government Association (SGA) as Sophomore Class President. When asked, “Why do you think it is important for women to pursue STEM and college education?” This is what Kat had to say: “I’m very passionate about helping others, especially those who are of the underrepresented minority. I find that one’s education is the best way to break boundaries set by societal norms. I’m an advocate for female empowerment in not just the Sciences but for every career field. Positions of power are rather too male dominated and I truly aspire to become a leader to not only myself but for the young women who desire the same thing. I am a volunteer for HOLA! Science because I feel it important to cultivate and maintain interests in the sciences amongst young women and deter them from feeling that “they are not smart enough” for a particular field on the basis that their male counterparts are better.” #HOLA!Science #STEM #HigherEducation #CedarCrestCollege
